The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Simon
February 16, 2013
Full-page tribute to Simon
Simon was such a vibrant and lively goat, we really thought he would live forever. Alas, on the morning of February 16, 2013 under the softly falling snow he decided his time with us was complete. He was not breathing well and appeared to be having heart issues. Dr. Kneser was called out and as Audrey cradled Simon he passed before the shot was administered. Fly high and join your friends Simon! We will see you at the Rainbow Bridge.
Benjamin
July 20, 2012
Our dear Benjamin's heart gave out and he went to the Rainbow Bridge to be with his Amelia and friend JD on Friday, 7/20. Benjamin and Amelia came from a situation where they had been very ill treated and we are grateful that we were able to provide many years of love to them.
Cher
June 28, 2012
Cher and her companion Sonny came to the farm in 2009 after one of our vets asked us to take them. Cher quickly took up the role of protector of Sonny and would mercilessly peck anyone who came into the pen, which presented interesting difficulties during feeding/watering time! Despite her over-protection of Sonny we loved her dearly and were sad when she became ill and passed. As a note to bird owners-it is important to watch for egg-laying problems, which can be deadly. Occasionally an egg will get stuck, which creates a medical emergency. In Cher's case one of her eggs burst while still inside her, which poisoned her despite aggressive treatment.
Amelia
June 9, 2012
Amelia has passed after a long illness. She battled lung issues and on Saturday she let us know she was no longer able to be with us any longer-she couldn't get up, was unable to eat and her breathing was very labored. We are grateful to Dr. Ennis for coming out on a Saturday night to help her pass peacefully.
Amelia is now with JD, healthy in spirit. Her long time compantion Benjamin as well as all of us will miss her terribly.

Tracey, one of our little bunnies, passed in her sleep, leaving behind her companion Tim.

Bette Davis
December 9, 2010
Full-page tribute to Bette Davis
Thursday December 9, 2010, a cold winter afternoon, Dr. Ennis came to the farm to help Bette journey over the Rainbow Bridge. Bette was recovering well from pneumonia when she developed a severe hemorrhage which Dr. Ennis told us was not treatable.
Bette passed in her pasture where she spent over 12 joyous years being spoiled by Audrey, Liz, many volunteers and countless visitors, in the company of her goat friends.
Payton
June 30, 2010
I moved into Potbelly Manor during the summer of 2006 after my owners no longer wanted me. I was sad but changed my mind when I saw my new digs! A HUGE house that I shared with my pal Newman. Could have done without making the acquaintence of "veterinarians" as the humans referred to them but I got over that quickly and settled down to enjoy my new life of leisure. Meals twice a day with occasional treats of rolls (bread was one of my favorite things to eat-don't ask...). I spent many days lounging in the back yard, sleeping in my gigantic house and brought joy to Audrey, Liz and many volunteers.
Quonset
July 6, 2010
Quonset came to Potbelly Manor in 1998. She was abandoned at Quonset Air Force Base with her babies until being caught by caring individuals and taken to Potbelly Manor where she and her family received royal treatment. We are honored to have shared 12 years of this little princess's life. Everyone will miss her greatly.
Newman
September 7, 2010
Newman passed peacefully on a lovely end-of-summer day in the yard. He had been missing his companion Payton and we suspected he would go to the Rainbow Bridge soon to be with her.
Newman came to Potbelly Manor in 2005 as the result of his owners getting divorced. Newman went from a life in a basement with no interaction and at times no food to a world of light and love at Potbelly Manor. He was claustrophobic as the result of his prior experience confined in the basement and despite our attempts to make him feel safe and welcome inside the house we had to accept that he was happiest outside in his huge house which he shared with Bruin and Payton prior to their passing.
Ever concerned about the security of the farm, we will miss your greeting when we arrived home, will miss your huge body full of love and your delightful habits such as requesting a drink from the hose. We will miss you Newman. Til we meet again.
Skipper
Full-page tribute to Skipper
Skipper was a very special pig. As Potbelly Manor's first rescue he spurred our desire to reach out to other abused and abandoned potbelly pigs.
